Cawdor proud to sponsor the Amateur Highland Games
On the 31st of May 2016, Welwyn Garden City saw the arrival of traditional Scottish festivities to their town. Boasting music, dance and sports, the Gosling Amateur Highland Games tournament was proudly sponsored by the team here at Cawdor Stone.
The event opened with an impressive ceremony of a marching pipe band, before launching into the contests. The games were held at the grounds of Gosling Sports Park and featured pipe band contests, displays of Scottish highland dancing, and a traditional set of athletic games. To offer professional insight on the day’s activities, two highland games officials made a special trip from Scotland to provide their expertise and advice for the competitors.
The male and female champions of the day (pictured above) were awarded trophies for their success. The trophies had a Nero Assoluto Antique base, crafted and provided by Cawdor Stone.
Village fete raises money with the help of Cawdor Stone
On the 11th July 2016, the Datchworth Fete offered a fun summer’s day out that brought the community together and raised money and awareness for local causes. Cawdor Stone were glad to sponsor this year’s event, and provided their support and a top quality Carrera marble chopping board for the raffle.
The Datchworth Fete is an annual event, organised by a team of dedicated volunteers, and this year they generously gave over 1000 hours of their time to organise the day. The fete was packed full of fun activities for all the family, boasting a multitude of games, events, entertainment and plenty of stalls.
The day’s takings succeeded the previous year, with a combined total of £12,000, the profits of which will be donated to local charities, namely All Saints’ Church and Datchworth Village Hall.
