Working in collaboration with our good friends at Daniel Ramsay Kitchens, this stunning Harpenden home has undergone a luxurious transformation, embracing the simplicity and functionality of Scandinavian design. At the heart of this open-plan space flowing to the garden through sliding doors is this Nordic-inspired kitchen, anchored by our carefully selected Cimstone Concrete Terreno quartz worktops.
Our client was drawn to the Nordic style for its sense of calm, functionality, and timeless elegance to bring their family a welcoming and refined space. Embracing such a style allows our client to balance simplicity with thoughtful detail, combining natural materials, soft textures, and a neutral palette. It was the perfect setting for a concrete-style quartz.
The Cimstone Concrete Terreno has proven the space with a stunning visual component and a hardworking surface for everyday life. This is what Scandinavian living is all about!

Harpenden Cimstone Concrete Terreno Quartz Project
Blending Texture & Tone to Create a Calming Atmosphere
From the moment you step into this space, you’re met with a sense of calm through the light oak handleless cabinetry and the organic tone from the Concrete Terreno quartz. This style of quartz adds depth and contrast through its industrial-inspired aesthetic. The muted grey plays a part in echoing the beauty of raw concrete, with a practical and non-porous surface from quartz.
Creating a Social Centre with Sculptural Impact
Taking centre stage and providing a social area, the expansive island is crafted with Concrete Terrano quartz with a generous overhang to invite informal dining and easy entertaining on the wooden low bar stools. This area perfectly aligns with the Scandinavian ethos of social, functional space in modern homes. It looks absolutely sensational!
The Beauty of a Full-Height Splashback
We continued the textured surface up the wall to create a full-height splashback, combining with the layered decor set out on the floating shelf. This beautiful pairing enhances the tactile balance between the cool quartz and natural wood, maintaining a harmonious material rhythm designed for this kitchen. It’s a statement piece in itself.
Hidden Pantry Delights
The quartz isn’t just visible in the kitchen, it has also been thoughtfully designed, tucked away behind closed cabinetry to create a cold shelf for the pantry. The choice is to provide the client with an area for food preparation and storage, which ties into the history behind the pantry. We even complemented and surprised our client with a bespoke chopping board cut from the same slab.
Curated materials and smart design have transformed this space into a beautiful working kitchen connecting to nature. Every detail was carefully considered by our team and Daniel Ramsay Kitchens, striking a perfect balance to blend tonal contrasts with the interplay of light and texture found in every corner.
