The Cawdor team found themselves at another location in London but this time the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Knightsbridge. This beautiful historic Edwardian building sits between glorious Royal parkland and the buzz of central Knightsbridge offering a contemporary flair and impeccable service. Within the five-star hotel’s history, it underwent a multi-million-pound restoration where Joyce Wang oversaw the new design of all the rooms, suites and public areas. The new design was inspired by the natural beauty of neighbouring Hyde Park and the glamour of the 20th century Golden Age of travel.
The hotel originally opened in 1908 and in 1996 the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group purchased the property and conducted a full renovation, re-opening in May 2000.
Adam D Tihany a New York designer directed the stunning re-imagining of The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, London along with the hotel’s destination restaurants and Mandarin Bar.
We received a Stone Award for the spectacular Health Spa in one of the most prestigious hotels in London. We added Impala Black granite to the pool area and made the staircase to the spa in solid granite. We fabricated and installed Calacatta Marble to the vanities in the public washrooms and added striking marble paving to the lobby and restaurants.
Impala Black Granite
Impala Black granite is from South Africa and is named after an exceptional and stunningly exotic territory mirrored in its convoluted structure. This rare granite is composed of crystallized minerals with a solid colour pattern and is recommended for use indoors and outdoors for a variety of projects.
Calacatta Marble
Calacatta Marble has a distinctive look with its thick, bold veining. It is a gorgeous high-end natural stone, with the whiter the background, the more expensive and desirable these marbles get.
