This elegant collaboration with Daniel Ramsay Kitchens is brought to life with CQ Calacatta Lusso Quartz. We provided a luxurious quartz worktop for this walk-in wine room nestled in the basement of a stunning home in Harpenden. It defies all expectations of a luxury wine room and is a great example of a space that is more than just somewhere to collect wine bottles. It’s an immersive, luxurious retreat that mirrors the feel of a high-end wine shop tucked away on a cobbled street in London.
With a structural design and quality materials, every element that features in this room has been meticulously chosen to serve both form and function. But what truly anchors this room is the Calacatta Lusso quartz – a bold and elegant surface that transforms the space into something unforgettable.

Designed for Wine Lovers, Completed With Hardwearing Surfaces
Before the stone is chosen and put into place, the room needs to be designed to fully accommodate the client’s needs. For our connoisseur client, their wine room was designed with bespoke shelving and thoughtful display solutions to line the space, ensuring every bottle is visible, celebrated and protected.
Having such a well-designed room beautifully reflects the homeowner’s passion for wine and the desire to curate a gallery-like display that feels both functional and indulgent. The layout flows naturally throughout, drawing you in from the soft lighting, minimalist finishes and the beautiful sense of calm.
This walk-in wine room is a powerful example of how basement spaces can be transformed into something truly extraordinary, and we are proud to put our mark on it.
Calacatta Lusso Quartz at the Centre
The Calacatta Lusso quartz is the foundation of a surface, hardwearing enough for wine spills. Taking centre stage of the room, it captures the drama and elegance of natural Calacatta marble, characterised by its thick, bold grey veining, and is the ideal contrast against the warm tones of the surrounding timber shelving and ambient lighting.
What we have to take our attention to is the centrepiece island featuring bookmatched waterfall ends and a full front slab to offer a beautiful architectural sculpture in this handmade room. The sleek and minimalist silhouette of the island really is something special. We also fabricated and installed the Calacatta quartz to the two surrounding L-shaped furniture sections, adding continuity and balance throughout the room.
The choice of Crittall-style sliding doors also allows the light to bounce and the quartz surfaces to be viewed in all their glory – you can see the veins dancing with the light from various vantage points.

Artful Bookmatching & Our Craftsmanship
This luxury wine room is a great example of the art of book-matching. It is seen on the island where the slabs are mirrored and joined to create a fluid, symmetrical pattern. The visual effect is the veining flowing gracefully across the surface and down the sides to create a waterfall, enhancing the natural beauty of the stone while elevating the craftsmanship of the room.
This technique is a visual harmony and speaks to the high-end nature of the project.

If you’re dreaming of transforming your kitchen, wine room or another place in your home, we have plenty of Calacatta quartz to feast your eyes on. They are the perfect starting point to get you started on your dream home renovation journey. Replicating natural marble with exceptional durability is what the modern homeowner craves, and quartz is a surface that brings character and class to any interior.
