Caesarstone – The Art of Darkness3 min read

Caesarstone continues to push design boundaries in the creation of their innovative surfaces and has launched four dark, sultry shades to add to their collection. These four new surfaces embrace a contemporary trend in kitchen designs and bathrooms that have recently set a bold tone.

From the classic luxury of 5101 Empira Black to the matte infinity of 3101 Piatto Black via the evocative patinas of rusted 4735 Oxidian and weathered 5810 Black Tempal, this collection – Art of Darkness presents an intriguing range of captivating hues that bring warmth to the home and an evocative caress to the stone.

“There is a warm intimacy that comes with the dark; a sense of quiet and calm that cossets and cocoons, that creates an atmosphere that encourages us to gather and eat and drink. A different mood descends. Tase, touch, scent and sound all elevated. In the dark, our sense come alive” – Mor Krisher (Chief Designer)

The story behind the designs

The Art of Darkness has been in the making for several years and are drawn from the desert and great outdoors. They are inspired by the organic materials found on the design team’s travels, where the team experimented with how different stones hold colours at night.

Today, black has been reconsidered as a modern classic in design and is used for its powerful overall look. Lifestyle elements such as furniture, tabletops, flowers and food have transitioned into shades of different black hues. Dark slate and stone, along with oxidised metal and black lacquered wood, are among the materials being combined in dramatic interiors today.

5810 Black Tempal – Natural Finish

Black Tempal has soft, mineral deposits that give rise to a delicate, light veil of warm whites that contrast with the sturdy black charcoal base. Its made up with a textured, complex and industrial complexion that reflects a captivating interpretation of travertine. The finish on top enhances the colour’s depth while capturing warm, granular highlights.

4735 Oxidian – Natural Finish

Oxidian celebrates the industrial aesthetic of patina and the tactile experience of touch. A dark grey base can be found within this stone that is tarnished with an oxidised russet effect, that just like rust, is distributed unevenly throughout the surface for an authentic finish.

3101 Piatto Black – Natural Finish

Piatto Black is designed with versatility in mind, as it’s the ultimate in dark. It consists of a fine, granular appearance that is complemented by a textured finish, enhancing a deeper, more intense black.

5101 Empira Black – Polished Finish

Empira Black is made up of a dark base composed of rich, deep black, juxtaposed with fine, white natural veins. The mysterious colour is inspired by the authentic characteristics of natural forms, working in any setting with the sophistication of marble and a unique magnanimity that’s not found anywhere else in nature.

Natural Finish

Natural finish is a delicate texture that conjures up the emotional caress of stone adding warmth to the grain so it’s pleasing to touch. The satin sheen gently reflects light – captivating the viewer and enhancing the depth of colour, especially in these darker shades. The new Natural finish combines an appealing texture enjoyed with each touch, along with the practicality of minimal care and maintenance synonymous with all Caesarstone products.

Polished Finish

Polished finish is a high gloss that evokes luxury and modernity, bringing out the best in the colour by emphasising its features in high definition. It attracts light, illuminating kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms, naturally making them larger. This durable surface is smooth to the touch and requires minimal care and maintenance, lasting the long-term. Effortlessly elegant, the Polished finish feels both timeless and contemporary, adding sustained value to any residential, hospitality or commercial interior.
