Cardinal Place, London Project2 min read

The Cawdor team are very proud to of worked on this historic building in London – Cardinal Place. This project comprised extensive granite flooring throughout the entrance halls and lobbies, together with limestone walling and columns. When completed we received a quality award for our work!

Cardinal Place was designed by EPR Architects and built by Sir Robert McAlpine, completed in 2006. It is a retail and office development in London, near Victoria Station and opposite Westminster Cathedral. The site consists of three buildings covering over a million square feet – 550,00 square feet of office space and 100,00 square feet of retail.

It is one of the most recognisable sights in London’s Victoria and has set the benchmark for architectural design across Landsec’s developments throughout the city of London. New experiences, opportunities and even lifestyles have been bought to the area, changing the way people think about the capital. It was only when the German Luftwaffe targeted Victoria Station during the Second World War, that much of Victoria Street was destroyed and office space was needed. The bombed-out area was redeveloped, firstly with Esso House which was then demolished in 2003 and Cardinal Place was built in place, representing a whole new phase in the ongoing transformation of Victoria.

Enclosed in a stylish and stunning structure of glass and polished steel, the many stores cater to meet the needs of all its visitors, with something for everyone that passes through the doors. The shopping centre is definitely a place that should be visited.
